I have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Product Manager/ Lead Product Owner to join a leading organisation in the hospitality sector. They are looking for a Lead Product Owner to define, shape, and drive the Product Vision across their portfolio of digital products. You will be responsible for building and mentoring a team of Product Owners, instilling best practices, and shaping the team's ways of working. The team operates remotely, with get-togethers twice a month in their office near Birmingham, so you should be comfortable attending these meetings.
As the Lead Product manager in this newly created role, you will be tasked with establishing what an effective product work stream looks like across their five distinct streams. While they have some basic foundations and a couple of contractors in place, the processes are not yet well defined. This presents an exciting opportunity for you to shape how things will operate moving forward. Although they are a large, established organisation, the company still maintains a startup-like atmosphere with a fast-paced environment and a "roll up your sleeves" mentality, free from the red tape that can hinder you from making changes quickly.
Their product portfolio includes a mobile app with over a million downloads, a web team responsible for maintaining websites across their brands, a new data project aimed at integrating all their different applications onto a unified data platform, a customer onboarding product, and a potential new AI/Machine Learning initiative.
You will lead, mentor, and grow a team of five Product Owners, working closely with Agile teams, implementing new ways of working as needed, and providing direction to both stakeholders and development teams throughout the product lifecycle. All the while, you will ensure that best practices are followed, from gathering requirements to product release.
Key responsibilities include overseeing and recruiting for the Product Owner team, collaborating with an offshore development and testing team, facilitating workshops to define requirements, managing the product lifecycle from development to release, and handling the product backlog. You will ensure strategic alignment by prioritising high-value features, tracking market trends, and staying up to date with Agile/Scrum best practices. Reporting on deliverables, risks, and progress will also be crucial.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Product Owner with a track record of leading teams of Product Owners, and experience working with offshore development teams is highly desirable.
The salary is up to £80,000. If you'd like to learn more, please apply below to Sam Miler at SR2 - Socially Responsible Recruitment.
