Ruby on Rails Developer - Remote £50,000

JOB DESCRIPTION

I'm looking for a Ruby on Rails Developer/ Engineer to join my client, with the opportunity to work 100% remotely (you just need to be UK based). They are an established and financially secure startup currently at 11 heads

They are not your average software development company. They work on web app and mobile development for some really worth while causes, including suicide prevention and they have designed a product for use in high-stress operating theaters,developing a product that controls all sorts of different hospital systems from one interface, including managing different lighting conditions for surgical procedures. And a fun fact, their product is even used in a llama hospital in Dubai!

They are made up of a diverse team across the globe, with their core team in the UK and design, marketing, and customer support in Bulgaria, and additional support from teams in Pakistan and India when needed.

They are now seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer to join their team, playing a pivotal role in their ongoing and upcoming projects. As they expand their portfolio, they need an experienced developer with expertise in Ruby on Rails (with any React skills a bonus). They are looking for someone capable of growing into a more senior role within the company where you will be able to play a crucial role in defining the architecture of their new client systems, web applications, and APIs

Responsibilities will include

  • Develop high-quality medium-to-large features on applications including back-end (Ruby on Rails) and front-end (React/TypeScript)
  • Define and oversee the architecture of new client systems, web applications, and API specifications (once you have developed to the right level)
  • Analysing business requirements and translating them into development stories
  • Work closely with in house and overseas resources
  • Utilize Jira for project management and tracking.
  • Mentor and guide junior developers (again when you have developed more into this sort of role unless you are at this elvel already)
  • Contribute to daily stand-up meetings and discussions on priorities, feature specifications, and code reviews.
  • Identify and provide solutions to bugs and challenges, sharing best practices with the team.
  • Act as a key liaison between their clients and the development team, offering the best implementation and solution proposals.
  • Collaborate with their CTO, who has a wealth of ideas and expertise.

Their ideal person will have Strong development experience using Ruby on Rails and ideally have experience of front-end technologies like JavaScript, React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, browser compatibility.

Salary is up to £50,000 with a flexible environment and the opportunity to join their company share scheme.
